It took about 7,000 hours to fully excavate the 18-ft long, 2,500 pound specimen. Thanks to its thick armor, the entire specimen was almost virtually intact.

A husband and wife excavation team from the University of Cincinnati digging near the Palace of Nestor in the southwest coast of Greece unearthed a cache of bronze weapons, gold and silver cups, and beads of precious stones like amethyst, carnelian, amber, and some pieces of gold. Aside from the high value of their find, the relics inside the cache offer new insights on ancient European culture. According to experts at Sadigh Gallery, this discovery shows the link between the ancient Mycenaean society and the Minoans of Crete.
