Construction sites can become unexpected excavation sites for ancient artifacts. This has been the case in London and in Rome, where various pieces were discovered. In London's Financial District, construction workers found several pieces under the mud. According to the archeologists from the Museum of London, the haul consisted of coins, shoes, drains, writing tablets, and other charms from the mid-40's A.D. to 410 A.D. The pieces were believed to be from the time when the Romans established London. Thankfully, the relics were found to be in good shape.
Those who have been to Rome must understand the city's need to expand its mass transit system. As a well-loved destination, the 2,700year-old city could use some improvement in its public transportation to accommodate more people. While building the city's subway Line C, construction workers found ancient relics. Archeologists then verified various pieces in the San Giovanni station. Gold jewelry, glasswork, kitchen tools, skeletons, and even traces of a copper factory were discovered during the subway line's construction.

The team at Sadigh Gallery says that finds like these can be considered significant contributions to the continuous study of human history. The hope is that more of these will be found to enrich what people know about the powerful Roman civilization.
